K-12, postsecondary and informal science education funding opportunities supported by the National Institutes of Health.

Science Education Partnership Award (SEPA) - NCRR (PAR-06-549) - Through this competitive grants program, the National Center for Research Resources' Science Education Partnership Award (SEPA) sponsors partnerships among researchers, educators, and community groups to share their knowledge, expertise, and enthusiasm about health and science research with K-12 students and the general public. Designed to improve science and health literacy, these grants have funded projects at health science centers, universities, K-12 schools, science museums, and community organizations across the country. Environmental Health Sciences K-12 Education - NIEHS - The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) is playing an increasingly important role in numerous public health issues because of the desire of the public to understand the effects and risks to human health from exposure to physical and chemical agents. There is a critical need to develop a mechanism for educating the general public about environmental health issues. To address this need, the NIEHS has initiated a K-12 education program that consists of three initiatives: Instructional Material Development, Teacher Enhancement and Development, and Environmental Health Sciences as an Integrative Context. The goal is to increase the number of underrepresented minorities who choose to enter scientific research careers in the future. (National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute)
