About Us
The purpose of the Ballast Water Team of MARAD’s Office of Environmental Activities is to further develop its Federal Ballast Water Initiative by establishing a national program for the testing of promising ballast water technologies for the maritime industry that will significantly reduce the threat and spread of aquatic invasive species in the United States and possibly abroad.
