President George W. Bush will meet Carol Hribar when he arrives in Columbus, Ohio, on Wednesday, September 1, 2004. Hribar, 54, is an active volunteer with the Westerville Police Department’s Citizen’s Police Academy.

President Bush has called on all Americans to volunteer two years or 4,000 hours over the course of their lifetimes, and hecreated USA Freedom Corpsto help foster a culture of service, citizenship, and responsibility. Since March 2002, President Bush has met with more than 300 individuals around the country, like Hribar, who are answering the call to volunteer service.

Hribar has been a volunteer with the Citizen’s Police Academy for the past five years. The Citizen’s Police Academy is an eleven-week training program designed to improve the working relationship between citizens and police officers to help form a partnership for a safer community. Through the Citizen’s Police Academy, Hribar has also earned certification in several Citizen Corps training programs designed to strengthen local homeland security efforts, including Terrorism Awareness and Prevention (TAP) training and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training.

Through USA Freedom Corps, President Bush wants to help every American answer the Call to Service by strengthening and expanding service opportunities to protect our homeland, support our communities, and extend American compassion around the world. Interested volunteers can find information at www.usafreedomcorps.gov or by calling 1-877-USA-CORPS.
