OMHRC Conference and Exhibits Program
The conference and exhibit outreach program is an ongoing strategy employed to promote the Resource Center’s products and services. OMHRC coordinates the logistics for exhibits. Goals of this outreach strategy are to increase awareness of and disseminate information on OMHRC as well as relevant, timely health materials on racial and ethnic minorities. The Resource Center develops brochures and other publications, places free or reduced-cost advertisements in conference programs, encourages conference attendees to sign-up for inclusion on OMHRC’s mailing list, and when possible, arranges opportunities to speak at conference sessions about OMHRC’s services, cultural competency, and related topics pertinent to the elimination of racial and ethnic disparities in health.
In 2005, OMHRC exhibited and conducted outreach activities at more than 25 conferences and related community events—reaching more than 130,000 health care professionals. OMHRC also represented OMH at a series of health fairs in 10 cities directly targeting Hispanic/Latino consumers.
