The Real Time Ocean Environment - Naval Research Laboratory, Stennis Space Flight Center

Overview: Near-real time altimetric sea surface anomaly, significant wave height, and wind speed, both globally and regionally, along with sea surface temperature analyses, numerical model assimilation results, and inferred subsurface temperature and salinity. Products are available as GIF images, but gridded data sets are available on request. TOPEX data are available 24 hrs and ERS-2 48 hrs after acquisition, both as swaths. All gridded products are available within 48 hrs. This analysis retains the sea surface height on all scales including the annual, hence the products are useful for large scale work or other analyses which require the complete signal.

Uses: Visualization of ocean currents, eddies, seasons, research, input to numerical ocean models. These products can also be used by marine operators. Secondary and post-secondary education.
