ALS User and Staff Publications

Reporting Publications

All publications resulting from experiments or work done at the ALS must be recorded by the ALS User Services Office for the Department of Energy (DOE). Authors of publications are required to complete the ALS Publications Submission form* for each contribution, i.e., journal article, conference presentation, book or book chapter, thesis, contributed news articles, internal staff reports, general ALS publications, brochures, etc. Only work that has been published should be submitted on this form.

*Best viewed using Mozilla 1.5, Netscape 6.0 or higher, or Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher.

Two Quick Steps to Reporting Publications

1. Search the ALS Publications Database
  • Go to the Publication Search page and check to see if all of your publications have been reported by entering your last name** and conducting a search. A colleague may have already submitted a group paper, so there is no need to resubmit the reference.
**searches may also be limited by beamline, journal name, year published, etc.
2. Submit ALS Publications
  • Fill out the ALS Publications Submission form. Most of the fields are mandatory and required by the DOE, however, if you are missing a piece of information such as the page number or month published, enter "n/a" and the Users' Office staff will attempt to track it down.
  • The "Title" and "Journal or Publication Name" fields must be filled out.
  • Include PhD theses, patents and book chapters.

Remember, if a publication is on your C.V. and all or part of the work was done at the ALS, it should be in our database!

All publications based on work at the ALS should include the following acknowledgement:
