Emergency response drill at Black River Pump Station

Tuesday, September 23, between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m.  some "contaminated water" signs will be posted and taping off of some areas near Black River Pump Station. 

"FilmFrenzy" Debuts in Renton

Film_FrenzyFilmmakers will have the opportunity to write, shoot, edit, and submit a short film as the first annual "Renton FilmFrenzy" debuts.  Registration deadline is 5 p.m., October 13.  More information is available at www.RentonFilmFrenzy.com.

Jones Avenue re-surfacing scheduled for Sept 29-30

Two blocks of Jones Avenue, near Kennydale Elementary School, will be re-surfaced Sept. 29-30, 2008. Jones Avenue, between NE 26th Street and NE 28th Street, will have grinding and re-paving work done to improve vehicle safety. More information.

City interactive maps now available online

There are two new sets of interactive maps on the City's community services pages.  One is a set of maps showing the parks, cultural and recreational facilities within the city and the other shows the locations and contact information of Human Services agencies in Renton.

Duvall Ave. Construction & DetoursDuvall Ave. Construction & Detours

Duvall Ave. NE will be widened to five lanes over the next year (including a two-way left-turn center lane). Stay updated about the Duvall Ave. construction work and detours by bookmarking its Web page: duvall.rentonwa.gov.

Speed Cameras Citations to begin September 16 at McKnight Middle School and Renton High School --
30-Day Warning Period begins September 2 at Talbot Hill Elementary

The registered owners of cars who exceed the school zone speed limit at McKnight Middle School and Renton High School will receive a ticket for $124 when the speed violation is exceeded by 6 to 15 mph over the posted school zone speed and $250 if the speed limit is exceeded by 16 mph or more. READ MORE

The city has also installed speed cameras at Talbot Hill Elementary School and a 30-day warning period will begin on September 2.

Renton Farmers Market at the Piazza

The Renton Farmers Market has closed for the season, however, the fun can continue at Greenfresh Market (575 Rainier Ave N. Renton, WA 98057) on September 23rd. The Renton Farmers Market and Greenfresh are hosting an "After Market" Market to let everyone get one more taste of the market and see what wonderful local options can be found at Greenfresh Market. Parking is limited at Renton City Hall.

In order to provide adequate short term parking for visitors to Renton City Hall, and to minimize traffic congestion, parking on upper level (P3) , will be limited to 2 hours.

Additional parking will be available at Sam's Club, on the east side of their main parking lot.  Please note that overflow parking is not allowed near their loading dock.  SEE MAP (pdf).

WSDOT Projects

WSDOT has completed making improvements to State Route 515 between SE 192nd and Benson Rd. and to I-405 and SR 167.  Stay updated about lane closures and construction related to the I-405 and SR167 projects at the WSDOT website.

HOT lanes (high occupancy toll lanes) are a new option for solo drivers on SR 167. they are a pilot program opened in the spring of 2008.  Read more.

Get ready to roll up your sleeves, enjoy the changing autumn leaves, and help make a difference in one of our newest parks. Join us for the Fall Green and Clean program at Heritage Park, 233 Union Ave. NE, Saturday, October 4, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Check in begins at 9 a.m.
