Dr. Shelley Canright
Dr. Shelley Canright, Program Executive, Technology & Products, NASA Headquarters

Powerful technologies are on the horizon that will enable new learning environments using simulations, visualizations, immersion, online game playing, intelligent tutors, learner networking, e-Professional Development, digitized building blocks of content, and more. These capabilities are creating rich and compelling learning opportunities that meet the needs of individual learners. It is incumbent on Dr. Shelley Canright, as Program Executive to NASA's Technology & Products, to support the development of new methods of making NASA's exciting discoveries and valuable resources available to students, educators and researchers.

Canright's portfolio includes the assets of the NASA Learning Technologies research and development, the NASA-sponsored Classroom of the Future; the education file on the NASA TV Public Services channel and the NASA Education Services channel; Web services, including the NASA public portal (http://www.nasa.gov) and education home pages; the suite of television and Web-based instructional series; and electronic- and site-based dissemination networks, such as the Central Operation of Resources for Educators.

Her overarching goal with the team she manages is to leverage technology infrastructures to deliver exploration-related content to audiences and partner with NASA's Mission Directorates, professional education organizations and others to create rich, effective learning experiences and connections for a range of audiences.

Canright received her bachelor's degree in early and middle childhood education and master's degree in educational policy and leadership from the Ohio State University. She earned her doctorate in instructional systems with certification in distance education from the Pennsylvania State University. Canright has over twenty years of experience in the field of education, from local district to federal-level positions.
