The Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) has changed the terms under which US Military Forces operate. Traditional military threats such as enemy naval, air, and land forces using traditional military means such as artillery and aircraft still exist and figure prominently in the planning conducted by the Department of Defense. However, the GWOT environment has demonstrated US vulnerabilities to non-traditional threats. One such threat is that from radiological weapons. This web page contains links to pages that provide descriptions and definitions of radiological weapons, sites that can assist with the assessment of an attack by radiological weapons, sites that will assist with responding to radiological attacks, and other links that fall under the general rubric of miscellaneous links related to radiological weapons.
DISCLAIMER: This web site is
provided by the Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences,
IDENTIFY:What is a radiological weapon? What is radiological terrorism? These questions and others are addressed at the following sites, which provide overviews of radiological weapons as well as specific guidance on how to respond to them.
The best place to start is with one of these sites, which will give you an overview of RDDs:
