Checked Baggage Losses
Increased Pilferage of Baggage at Airports
The new baggage screening process, as mandated by the U.S. TSA (Transportation Security Administration), may now require baggage to pass through more hands than before, which may be the leading root cause of increased stealing and losses. Airport managers have been alerted of this problem and are looking into preventive measures to mitigate the robbery of baggage items. Checked baggage losses are a reality. Packing expensive equipment in your checked baggage is never a good idea. Hand carry the items or use the USAP Cargo System.
Reporting Lost Baggage
Should a loss incur, contact the airport immediately to file a claim. Depending on the country where the loss is incurred they may reimburse per kilo, not by dollar value. Should you have difficulties, or not be reimbursed an adequate amount to cover your loss, please contact the Christchurch/ AGUNSA Travel Office to initiate a claim through American Express. American Express provides our ticketed travelers with insurance coverage after pursuing a claim through the airlines. |
