TVA Asks for Comments on Proposed Transmission Project

October 19, 2007

FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. – To maintain reliable electric service and meet growing power demand, TVA plans to upgrade its transmission system in the Park City area.

Public input on the planned improvements is encouraged, beginning with an open house scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 25, in Fayetteville. Planned improvements include construction of a new 161-kilovolt transmission line, which is needed to power Fayetteville Power Utilities’ new Park City Substation, located southeast of the intersection of U.S. Highway 231 and McDougal Road. The new line will originate at TVA’s existing Ardmore-Fayetteville transmission line, located about three miles south of the substation site.

TVA staff will discuss alternative routes for the new transmission line at an open house to be held from 3 -7 p.m. CDT Oct. 25 at the First National Bank Community Room, 2850 Huntsville Highway, in Fayetteville. Detailed maps showing the network of alternative routes for the new three-mile line will be available. TVA staff will answer questions, discuss potential concerns and receive comments on the proposed routes.

For additional information or to submit comments, contact Todd Moore, TVA, 1101 Market St. (MR 4G), Chattanooga, TN 37402-2801, call toll free 800-362-4355, e-mail newtransline@tva.com or visit TVA’s website. The deadline for comments is Nov. 26.
