TVA Asks for Comments on Proposed Transmission Project

August 19, 2008

WHITE HOUSE, Tenn. – To provide continued reliable electric service to the growing area and relieve overloaded equipment, TVA plans to build a new transmission line to serve an upgraded Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation substation in White House.

Public input on the planned improvements to the transmission system is encouraged.  TVA will hold an open house on the project in White House on Thursday, Aug. 28.

Improvements include upgrades to the Cumberland EMC substation and a 5-6 mile TVA 161-kilovolt transmission line to power the substation.  The line will begin at TVA’s existing Paradise-Goodlettsville 161-kV line and extend east towards the substation site, which is located east of I-65 on Sage Road (just before reaching Meadowlark Drive).

A network of 34 possible routes for various segments of the line is being considered.  TVA will present the alternatives at an open house to be held from 3 -7 p.m. EDT at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 3403 Highway 31 West, in White House.

Detailed maps showing the network of alternative routes for the power line will be available, and TVA staff will be on hand to answer questions, discuss potential concerns and receive comments on the proposals.  A map is available at www.tva.gov/power/projects.

For additional information or to submit comments, contact Todd Moore, TVA, 1101 Market St. (MR 4G), Chattanooga, TN 37402-2801, call toll free 800-362-4355, e-mail newtransline@tva.com or visit TVA’s website.  The deadline for comments is Sept. 29.
