Pedestrian Bridge Across the Hiwassee River To Close Oct. 15

RELIANCE, Tenn. – TVA will close the pedestrian bridge across the Hiwassee River near the Apalachia Powerhouse Monday-Friday for five months beginning Oct. 15 for repairs to the bridge.

Crews will replace wooden foot boards, hand rails and structures that support the deck. The bridge will be open for public use each weekend but closed on weekdays during the construction. Work is scheduled to be completed March 15.

TVA is the nation’s largest public power provider and is completely self- financing. TVA provides power to large industries and 158 power distributors that serve approximately 8.7 million consumers in seven southeastern states. TVA also manages the Tennessee River and its tributaries to provide multiple benefits, including flood damage reduction, navigation, water quality and recreation.
