Federal Employees Assist 34 Agencies During Annual CFC Day of Caring

September 13, 2007

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - More than 400 federal employees are scheduled to work in 34 area agencies Friday and Saturday, Sept. 14-15, during the Greater Chattanooga Area Combined Federal Campaign’s 15th annual Day of Caring.

Employees will provide hands-on assistance for various requested projects – such as painting, building, cleaning, landscaping and cooking – to 34 local agencies that receive contributions from the CFC. Employees from TVA will work at local agencies on Friday, Sept. 14. U. S. Postal Service employees will volunteer on Saturday, Sept. 19.

“By giving their time on the annual day of caring, federal employees can see first- hand how their efforts can make a difference,” said TVA Senior Vice President Marci Cooper, who is chair of the 2007 Greater Chattanooga Area Combined Federal Campaign. “The giving spirit of federal employees is exhibited throughout the year, but particularly on the CFC Day of Caring.”

The CFC is held annually to give federal employees an opportunity to contribute to charitable, health and human services organizations in 20 counties in Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama.

TVA is the nation’s largest public power provider and is completely self-financing. TVA provides power to large industries and 158 power distributors that serve approximately 8.7 million consumers in seven southeastern states. TVA also manages the Tennessee River and its tributaries to provide multiple benefits, including flood damage reduction, navigation, water quality and recreation.
