TVA Names Deborah Cameron Regional Development Specialist

Grainger County Native Receives Regional Appointment

NASHVILLE, Tenn.–TVA has appointed Deborah Cameron of Goodlettsville as a regional development specialist in economic development for the Middle Tennessee area.

Cameron will work with distributors of TVA power, community leaders, and state and regional economic development partners to create, sustain and foster job growth. Her responsibilities include assisting prospective or expanding industries, delivering financial and technical services, and helping communities support and grow existing businesses.

Cameron began her TVA career in 2004 as a project manager in community development. For the past thee years, she developed and provided a broad range of services designed to improve TVA-served communities by enhancing their economic development organizations and preparing them for economic growth. She also led many of TVA’s planning and community-preparedness training sessions.

Before joining TVA, she worked for the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development where she supervised an existing business services staff and oversaw workforce development funds.

Cameron has an MBA from John Hopkins University and an undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Maryland. She is certified by the Community Development Institute and was recently appointed to the Board of Examiners by the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence.

A Grainger County native, Cameron is a graduate of Rutledge High School and has relatives in the area, including her father, Earl Cameron, who lives in Morristown.

“We’re excited that Deborah has accepted the position of regional development specialist in TVA’s Middle Tennessee service area,” said TVA Senior Vice President of Economic Development John Bradley. “Deborah’s background in community and economic development will benefit our communities as we continue to support our distributor customers, the region, state and local leaders in developing new businesses and expanding existing ones.”

TVA, working with distributors of TVA power, Valley communities, regional and state economic development partners, helped retain or attract some 53,000 jobs in the fiscal year 2006 and leveraged investments of $4.2 billion in our region.
