TVA Names Reynolds Senior Vice President of Communications, Government and Valley Relations

April 4, 2007

TVA President and CEO Tom Kilgore announced today two staff changes designed to position TVA for greater efficiency, improved integration and sharpened operational controls.

Communications and Government Relations will merge to form a new organization -- Communications, Government and Valley Relations. Emily Reynolds will join TVA on April 23 and serve as senior vice president of the new organization.

Reynolds will report directly to the CEO. She has a long career of public service dating back to late 1980 when she began as special assistant to U. S. Senate Majority Leader Howard Baker Jr. She most recently served as the 31st secretary of the U.S. Senate where she managed the legislative, financial and administrative operations of the Senate.

In 1995, she was appointed by Gov. Don Sundquist to serve as the vice-chairman and executive director of the Governor’s TennCare Roundtable.

Reynolds became chief of staff for Sen. Bill Frist in 2001. Located in Washington, D.C., she supervised Frist’s Washington and Tennessee offices with overall responsibility for the management and coordination of staffing, legislative activity, communications, constituent relations and scheduling.

“We are pleased that Emily is joining our team to lead this important organization,” Kilgore said. “She is uniquely qualified for this role, which is responsible for communicating to our employees, the public and TVA stakeholders.”

Kilgore also announced the establishment of the Corporate Responsibility and Diversity organization. The new organization will be led by Senior Vice President Peyton Hairston, who will also report directly to the CEO. In this new role, Hairston’s responsibilities will include Diversity Development, Equal Opportunity Compliance, Board Services and Community Relations.

Hairston has been serving as interim senior vice president of Communications.

“I want to thank Peyton for a job well done,” said Kilgore. “His efforts have laid the groundwork for continued improvement in our communications, and his acceptance of this new challenge is greatly appreciated.”

TVA is the nation’s largest public power provider and is completely self financing.
