USGS Washington Water Science Center
I'm Cindi Barton, Director of the U.S. Geological Survey's water resource activities in Washington State. Welcome to our home page. Our state is fortunate to have an abundance of water resources, which we've been investigating for well over 100 years. The data we collect is essential to provide a reliable supply of safe drinking water, as well as to protect people from floods and other natural disasters. Our data are also used to manage water resources for hydroelectric power, agriculture, manufacturing, recreation, and the environment. The USGS operates the most extensive satellite network of stream-gaging stations in the state, providing up-to-date information for flood warning and water-supply for various uses.
