Commissioner of Customs,
Department of the Treasury, Washington, DC 20229.

Dear Commissioner: This directive amends, but does not cancel, the directive issued to you on December 19, 1997, by the Chairman, Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements. That directive concerns imports of certain cotton, man-made fiber, silk blend and other vegetable fiber textile products, produced or manufactured in Oman and exported during the twelve month period beginning on January 1, 1998 and extending through December 31, 1998.

Effective on October 21, 1998, you are directed to increase the current limit for Categories 347/348 to 1,110,285 dozen1 as provided for under the current bilateral textile agreement between the Governments of the United States and the Sultanate of Oman.

1The limit has not been adjusted to account for any imports exported after December 31, 1997.

The Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements has determined that this action falls within the foreign affairs exception of the rulemaking provisions of 5 U.S.C. 553(a)(1).

Sincerely,
