Royal Air Force Mildenhall
The U.S. Air Force activated the 100th Air Refueling Wing, host wing at RAF Mildenhall, England, Feb. 1, 1992. Since its reactivation, the 100th ARW has served as the lone air refueling wing for U.S. Air Forces in Europe. The diverse mission of aerial refueling, special operations, air mobility, reconnaissance and intelligence makes RAF Mildenhall a unique U.S. Air Force base. Col. Eden J. Murrie, 100th Air Refueling Wing commander, promotes Staff Sgt. Robyn Ciardelli, 100th Logistics Readiness Squadron Aircraft Parts Store supervisor, to the rank of technical sergeant under the Stripes for Exceptional Performers program Dec. 19. The STEP program is a highly visible promotion recognition program used by commanders at all levels to recognize the outstanding contributions and accomplishments of senior airmen, staff sergeants and technical sergeants. Exercise a ‘good start’ to long season of ORI preparation

RAF MILDENHALL, England -- The Microsoft Office Communication Suite will be installed on all network computers at RAF Mildenhall after duty hours Dec. 19, allowing base users instant messaging, file sharing, and even video teleconferencing from their workstations.

95th RS helps community, local school for second year
RAF MILDENHALL, England -- Forty three members of the 95th Reconnaissance Squadron spent 130 man-hours clearing undergrowth, dead and overgrown trees, leaves and rubbish from the area around Riverside Middle School in Mildenhall Dec. 11.

In order to meet a perceived "continental threat," the British military developed the idea to site an RAF bomber base at Mildenhall in the late 1920s. Shortly thereafter, the government purchased the land in 1929, followed by the completion of the first buildings in 1931. Three years later, RAF Mildenhall opened on October 16, 1934, as one of the RAF’s largest bomber stations. Read the full history here. |
