Base Fire Department aids local emergency units for Mercy Flight
NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, N.Y. -- A local emergency medical evacuation helicopter landed on base June 2 to airlift an injured local man to Erie County Medical Center. According to Base Fire Capt. Aaron McLane, the unidentified man suffered severe head trauma when he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle a few miles outside the base. Base fire-rescue personnel responded to an emergency request for assistance by establishing a landing area on base for the rescue flight and coordinating required assistance for transport.

914th unit members honored for service
NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, N.Y. -- During May's Armed Forces Week, 914th Airlift Wing members earned multiple Excellence In Government Awards at a ceremony held in the Buffalo, NY convention center.
EIG awards are given out once a year to recognize deserving federal government service workers.

Crash course in the dangers of drinking and driving
NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, N.Y. -- Over 2,000 high school students from Erie, Niagara and surrounding counties participated in the 14th annual Traffic Safety Program, May 15th here on station. The safety fair teaches students the consequences of drinking and driving and is coordinated by the Niagara County Sheriff's Department, the New York State Police and other local law enforcement and emergency agencies, with assistance from Niagara Falls ARS and Calspan. Aircrew life support officer earns prestigious 22nd Air Force award
NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, N.Y. -- A 914th Airlift Wing reservist earned the Outstanding Aircrew Flight Equipment Officer of the Year Award 2008 for 22nd Air Force.
Capt. Anthony Wilmot is the first officer stationed at Niagara Falls to earn this prominent award in recent memory.
