John Chancellor was born on July 14, 1927, at Chicago, Illinois. A Special Inquiry investigation was done in 1965 at the request of the White House as he was being considered for a Presidential appointment. Chancellor was a former newspaper reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times and a current commentator for the National Broadcasting Company. In 1965, President Lyndon Johnson appointed Chancellor as head of "Voice of America," the Government's overseas radio station. John W. Chancellor served in the Army from November 1946 thru July 1947. His military record showed he was honorably discharged.
