9 September 2005.  Climate Change Science Program (CCSP) Product Development Committee (CPDC) for Synthesis and Assessment Product 1.1.  Notice published in the Federal Register, announcing formation of the CPDC and inviting comments.  The committee "will consist of no more than 30 members to be appointed by the Under Secretary to assure a balanced representation among preeminent scientists, educators, and experts reflecting the full scope of the scientific issues addressed in CCSP Synthesis and Assessment Product 1.1. The CPDC-S&A 1.1 will function solely as an advisory body, and in compliance with the provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act. Its charter will be filed under the Act, 15 days from the date of publication of this notice in the Federal Register. "

3 May 2005: Review of the U.S. Climate Change Science Program’s Synthesis and Assessment Product on Temperature Trends in the Lower Atmosphere.  Report (issued 3 May 2005) from the National Research Council, Board on Atmospheric Sciences and Climate (BASC).  "Provides a review of the CCSP’s draft synthesis and assessment product on “Temperature Trends in the Lower Atmosphere: Steps for Understanding and Reconciling Differences,” considering, for example, if the goals and objectives are clearly described, if the findings and recommendations are supported by evidence and analysis, if the presentation and organization is effective, if it is scientifically objective and policy neutral, and how it might be improved."
