The precipitation that brought snow fall to the Drakensberg Mountains in the country of Lesotho in southern Africa creates a stark white contast with the country's brown, mountainous terrain. Lesotho is a small, roughly circular, landlocked country nestled between Free State Province and Eastern Cape Province of Republic of South Africa. This Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image was acquired July 2, 2002.
