Snowy mountains and greener plains are prominent in this MODIS true-color image acquired April 8, 2002. The snowy mountains form a border between Western China, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan, while the two large lakes in the east lie just inside Easternmost Uzbekistan. The southern portion of Kazakhstan can be seen at the very top of the image.
