How to use the map

Dragging the map
Make sure the drag icon (the hand) is highlighted in the tool menu underneath the map. The mouse icon will turn into the same hand icon. Left click on the map, hold down the mouse button and move the mouse around. The map will follow your movements.

Performing a projects query
Choose which criteria to query on in the select boxes to the right of the map. You can select multiple items per select box by Ctrl+clicking on each item you wish to include. Click the submit button.

Identifying a project
There are several ways to identify a project:

  1. Click the identify ("i" identify) icon in the tool menu underneath the map. Left click a point or area of interest on the map. Zero or more links will popup in a bubble box. If you click on a point that is home to more than one project, you might see several links to click on. Select the link to the project you wish to identify and another popup, this time in a new browser window, will appear.
  2. There is a projects list area - the green box beneath the map. This shows which projects are available according to the results of your query. All projects are shown by default when the map first loads.
    • Some projects will have a "i" icon next to the project title. These projects have only ONE location on the map which the is reason you are are able to center the map on the project. If you click that, the map will center on the project and popup the identify box with some info and link to the summary page.
    • You can click on the project title of any project in the list area beneath the map and the summary page for that particular project will popup.

The Wisconsin and U.S.A. tools
Located in the tool menu underneath the map, these two buttons will automatically resize to fit the entirety of Wisconsin and the US.

Toggling map layers
Click the layers icon (two overlapping squares) in the tool menu underneath the map. You will see a list of layers with checkboxes next to them. Some layers are loaded to the map by default. You have the choice of turning these off. Imported layers can also be selected but aren't selected by default.
