The Coast Guard began major work on the prototype MH-60T (CG6027) CAAS conversion in March 2006, and completed the effort in December 2007, at Aircraft Repair and Supply Center (AR&SC) Elizabeth City, N.C. The project completed developmental testing in March 2008.

Now, the converted aircraft has begun Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E) at Aviation Training Center (ATC) Mobile, Ala., with the Coast Guard and the U. S. Navy’s Commander Operational Test and Evaluation Force (COMOPTEVFOR) providing oversight. The MH-60T is the first project in Coast Guard aviation history that will deliver a fully operational training system before the first production aircraft are deployed.
