Advanced Network Technologies Division (ANTD)
The Advanced Network Technologies Division is part of the National Institute of Standards and Technology's (NIST) Information Technology Laboratory (ITL). As part of NIST's Measurement and Standards Laboratory (MSL) program, ANTD's mission is to:
"Provide the networking industry with
the best in test and measurement technology"
Goals:
  • To improve the quality of networking specifications and standards
  • To improve the quality and expedite the commercial availability of new networking products
Core Technical Contributions:
  • Modeling and analysis from specifications to assess consistency, completeness, precision, and performance characteristics.
  • Developing test and measurement tools, techniques, metrics, and data to assess conformance, interoperability, and performance.
  • Prototyping and empirical studies from specifications to determine feasibility.
