  • Industry Circular 2008–2, Brunello di Montalcino Wine
    This circular serves as notice that beginning on June 23, 2008, importers of Brunello di Montalcino wine must have in their possession, at the time of release from customs custody, a declaration from the Government of Italy that states that the wine is entitled to bear the Brunello di Montalcino designation.   • The U.S. Customs and Border Protection Will Not Release Shipments of Brunello di Montalcino Wine
    TTB Industry Circular 2008-1, states that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will not release shipments of Brunello di Montalcino wine unless the importers submit to CBP a statement attesting that the wine meets certain requirements.  Read more.  (06/17/08)
  • T. D. TTB–70, Certification Requirements for Imported Natural Wine
    Effective May 28, 2008, TTB adopts as a final rule, without change, the temporary regulations implementing the certification requirements regarding production practices and procedures for imported natural wine.  To view the documents and comments related to this rulemaking, including the relevant regulations, see Docket No. TTB–2007–0006 at Regulations.gov.
  • TTB Ruling 2008–1, Standards of Identity and the Use of Semi-generic Designations and Retsina on Certain European Wines Imported into the U.S. 
    This ruling holds that a European Union (EU) wine product bearing one of the 17 semi-generic designations listed in 26 U.S.C. 5388(c)(3)(C)(i) which conforms to the EU standard for such wine complies with the U.S. standard of identity for that wine and, when imported into the U.S., is not required to meet a new U.S. standard of identity.  A Federal Register notice concerning this ruling was published on February 11, 2008.  (02/11/08)
