Distance Learning Resources

The RML and others are working to provide distance learning solutions for network members, health professionals and the healthcare consumer. Technology is helping to overcome some of the barriers to both taking and providing classes and other educational opportunities. This section points to various distance learning opportunities.

Topics on this page:

Online Classes

In conjunction with the Medical Library Association (MLA), NN/LM is using Moodle to develop web-based instruction. Four classes were created by librarians from the Pacific Northwest Region. Select the individual class for registration information. Watch for announcements of these and other distance classes in the Dragonfly and on the Calendar of Regional and National Events.

For a listing of nationally offered web-based classes go to MLA's Resources for Web-based Learning and NN/LM Distance Learning Opportunities.

Webcasts and Satellite Broadcasts

NN/LM PNR provides access to webcasts and satellite broadcasts from the National Library of Medicine, the Medical Library Association (MLA) and other providers. Watch for more information about this in the Dragonfly blog.
The RML has videos of many past broadcasts in their lending library.

NLM and Other NN/LM Distance Learning Resources

This section includes video tutorials about recent consumer health databases and Web sites from NLM and other RMLs. You will need the latest version of Macromedia Flash Player in order to view some of them.

In the section below you will find highlights from NLM's Distance Education Program Resources Web Page.
