Under Secretary Karen Hughes: Travel to Benin and South Africa

Under Secretary Hughes traveled to Benin and South Africa from April 4 through April 10.

In Benin, Under Secretary Hughes represented the United States at the inauguration of President Bono Yayi on April 6. While in South Africa, she met with senior government officials, students, community leaders and non-governmental organizations and spoke at the Institute of Democracy about the great promise and potential of Africa.
