PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Virginia Summer Residential Governor's Schools

[Students Grades 9-12]
[Available: VA]

The goal of the Virginia Summer Residential Governor's Schools is to provide opportunities for gifted high school students from public and private schools from across the Commonwealth of Virginia to explore professional and university environments through artistic and academic enrichment tailored to their aspirations, level of ability and depth of experience. Such opportunities formerly would have been reserved for college-age students or to a limited number of high school students who were fortunate enough to live near such facilities. The goal of the Governor's Schools is to provide students with opportunities for artistic and intellectual, as well as social and emotional, growth. In the company of dedicated, highly skilled professionals representing a variety of careers, students are encouraged to establish their own goals and move toward the fulfillment of those goals.
