TVA Asks for Comments on Proposed Transmission Project

July 22, 2008

ALVATON, Ky. – To provide continued reliable electric service to the area and avoid overloading existing electrical equipment, TVA is planning improvements to its transmission system in southern Warren County.

Public input on the planned improvements is encouraged, beginning with an open house in Alvaton on Thursday, July 31.

Planned improvements include construction of a new Warren Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation substation and a new 161-kilovolt transmission line. The new line will extend from TVA’s existing Bowling Green-Scottsville transmission line westward to the new substation in Alvaton.

A series of 15 alternative routes for various segments of the line are being considered. Possible routes for the line range in length from 3.8 to 4 miles.

TVA will present the alternative routes at an open house to be held from 3 -7 p.m. CDT at the Phil Moore Park Gymnasium, 7101 Scottsville Road, Alvaton, Kentucky. Detailed maps showing the network of alternative routes for the power line will be available, and TVA staff will be on hand to answer questions, discuss potential concerns and receive comments on the proposals. A map is available at www.tva.gov/power/projects.

For additional information or to submit comments, contact Steve Pitt, TVA, 1101 Market St. (MR 4G), Chattanooga, TN 37402-2801, call toll free 800-355-6372, e-mail newtransline@tva.com or visit TVA’s website. The deadline for comments is Sept. 2.
