A federal program called Conversations With America is designed to encourage public comment on how to improve government services to citizens. The following monthly calendar lists meetings that provide forums for public questions and comments.

Bear Creek Development Authority Board meeting

The Bear Creek Development Authority (BCDA) will hold its quarterly Board meeting.  TVA’s Pickwick-Wheeler Watershed Team serves on the Board.

Southeastern Resource Conservation & Development Regional Conference

September 10, 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
September 11 & 12, 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Wytheville Meeting Center, 333 Community Boulevard, Wytheville, Virginia

The Southeastern Association of Resource Conservation & Development Councils and RC&D) is the host for this conference. More than 400 regional volunteers, elected officials, government staffs and RC&D Coordinators will gather to focus on resource conservation. These Councils are non-profit entities that invest millions in conservation, rural infrastructure and community improvement projects. TVA will make a presentation at the conference to present on the Growth Readiness Program in the Southeast.

TVA Transmission System Project

September 16, 3-7 p.m. (CDT)
Biggersville, Mississippi (Alcorn County) - Location and Time TBD

An open house will be held to present TVA’s plans to improve electrical service in the local region. TVA staff will host and attend open house to present maps of the study area and additional information regarding the process for siting transmission lines and to discuss the project with property owners and stakeholders.

Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge Anniversary Celebration

September 20, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (CDT)
Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, Highway 67, Decatur, Alabama

The Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge will celebrate its 70th anniversary with various educational booths and environmental demonstrations.  TVA’s Pickwick-Wheeler Watershed Team will staff a booth including information about TVA’s 75th anniversary celebration.

American Planning Association, Tennessee Chapter, Annual Conference

The Millennium Conference Centre, 2001 Millennium Place, Johnson City, Tennessee

The annual conference of the Tennessee Chapter of the American Planning Association will focus on ‘Progress and Preservation: Coming Together through Planning Practices, Policies and Projects’. TVA will have a speaker at two of the conference sessions, Green Infrastructure Planning, and Helping Communities Prepare for More Quality Growth: New Tools and Assistance.
