1. What will Net-Centric Enterprise Services (NCES) do for me?
NCES will enable the secure, agile, robust, dependable, interoperable data sharing environment for the DoD where warfighter, business and intelligence users share knowledge on a global network that facilitates information superiority, accelerates decision-making, effective operations, and net-centric transformation.
2. What is a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)?
A Service Oriented Architecture is an architecture that is built primarily with network-available services, such as Web Services.
3. What are the benefits of building and using a SOA?
Building systems as a SOA provides three key benefits. System components are discoverable at run-time, SOAs can be made interoperable and SOAs are loosely coupled and decentralized. This allows location transparency and allows the focus to be more on providing business value and less on providing system "plumbing."
