- Finding Low-Cost Health Providers In Affected Areas
The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has the latest information on how you can receive free or low-cost health care in areas located around the region that was directly affected by Hurricane Katrina.
- The telephone medical consultation offered by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is expanding its to health care providers to all patients affected by Hurricane Katrina, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to provide medical consultations on a wide array of medical problems. The toll-free number is 1-866-887-2842.
- Mental Health Services Locator
Find treatment facilities and support services, consumer, family, and advocacy organizations, state agencies, programs funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and more, through this site.
- Substance Abuse Treatment Facility Locator
This searchable directory of drug and alcohol treatment programs will show the location of facilities around the country that treat alcoholism, alcohol abuse and drug abuse problems. The Locator includes more than 12,000 residential treatment centers, inpatient drug treatment and alcohol treatment programs and outpatient treatment programs for drug abuse and addiction and alcoholism. Listings include treatment programs for marijuana, cocaine and heroin addiction, as well as drug and alcohol treatment programs for teenagers, adolescents and adults.
- Eldercare Locator

The Eldercare Locator is a nationwide directory assistance service designed to assist older persons and caregivers in finding local support resources for aging Americans to help them remain independent in their own homes. It can also help caregivers find ways to get a well deserved break. The Eldercare Locator will provide names and phone numbers of organizations within a desired location, anywhere in the country, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 8 pm Eastern Time. After hours and on weekends, callers can leave a message and an NCI employee will respond within an hour. Provide as much information as you can about the clinical trial (for example protocol number, type of cancer, name of test drug, location, and name of the investigator) to help NCI information specialists direct you to the appropriate resources.
