OR&R Hawaii Data Management Partnership Reaps Rewards

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Office of Response and Restoration, and Pacific Services Center, along with Hawaii's Department of Health and Office of Planning, met the week of January 17, 2005 to celebrate their progess in improving management of contaminated sites data in Hawaii, and to plan next steps.  The partnership has heightened local leadership interest in improving the quality and sharing of information, benefiting the state's Hazard Evaluation and Brownfields offices.  An intern, hired for five months by NOAA to work at Hawaii's Department of Health, is improving the access to, and quality of information on, contaminated sites and preparing the database for use in geographic information systems (GIS) software.
