Director of Product Development for Thrift Savings Plan Announced

Washington, D.C. (May 9, 2006) – The Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board today announced that Gregory T. Long has joined the Agency which administers the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) for Federal employees. He serves as the Director of Product Development.

Before joining the TSP, Long spent seven years with Citi-Street where he served as Director of Marketing for the American Bar Association Retirement Funds. In that position he oversaw all marketing, sales and product development activities for a program that provides 401(k) services to over 4,000 law firms nationwide. Prior to CitiStreet, Long spent six years with Putnam Investments, most recently as the Regional 401(k) Sales Director in the southeast U.S.

Gary A. Amelio, Executive Director of the Board, said, “Greg has exactly the skills and experience we were seeking. I’m thrilled that his talents will now be put to work for the benefit of TSP participants.” In this newly created role, Long will serve as the chief research officer for the TSP and principal advisor to the Executive Director with respect to all product development and related policy matters.

The TSP is a retirement savings plan for Federal employees; it is similar to the 401(k) plans offered by many private employers. As of April 30, 2006, TSP assets totaled more than $186 billion, and retirement savings accounts were being maintained for more than 3.6 million TSP participants. Participants include Federal civilian employees in all branches of Government, employees of the U.S. Postal Service, and members of the uniformed services.
