Small Business Safety and Health Forum Scheduled At Waubonsee Community College on March 17

AURORA, Ill. -- A special forum on safety and health for small businesses will be held at Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove, Ill., on Wed., March 17.

The forum is co-sponsored by the North Aurora area office of the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Waubonsee Community College, and the Onsite Consultation Program of the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity.

Safety experts will provide detailed information on more than 25 topics, including machine guarding, accident investigation, forklifts, fire safety and hazardous materials. The American Heart Association will provide training on automated external defibrillators (AEDs). This year's conference will also include a session on the safety of young workers.

"This conference is a great opportunity to help small businesses prevent job injuries and protect their workers," said Michael G. Connors, OSHA regional administrator in Chicago.

The program will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at Waubonsee Community College, at Route 47 and Harter Road, in Sugar Grove. The fee for the forum is $35, which includes lunch and refreshments. Advance registration is required. To register, call (630) 906-4120 or (630) 906-4196.

In fiscal year 2003, OSHA's training programs reached more than 300,000 employers and workers. The Labor Department's Occupational Safety and Health Administration is dedicated to saving lives, preventing injuries and illnesses and protecting the health and safety of American workers.
