President George W. Bush will meet Sue Stuempel when he arrives at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, on Sunday, October 31, 2004. Stuempeland her dog, Daisy, have been pet therapy volunteers with several organizations in Cincinnati.

President Bush has called on all Americans to volunteer two years or 4,000 hours over the course of their lifetimes, and hecreated USA Freedom Corpsto help foster a culture of service, citizenship, and responsibility. Since March 2002, President Bush has met with more than 350 individuals around the country, like Stuempel, who are answering the call to volunteer service.

Stuempel and Daisy visit St. Aloysius Orphanage, a family teaching and treatment center for children dealing with emotional or behavioral issues. The pet therapy program helps teach the children how to properly relate to and treat animals. They also visit Children’s Hospital and Shriner’s Hospital to spend time with patients. In addition, Stuempel and Daisy work with “Tales to Tails” at the Cincinnati Public Library, a program where young children practice their reading skills by reading to dogs.

Through USA Freedom Corps, President Bush wants to help every American answer the Call to Service by strengthening and expanding service opportunities to protect our homeland, support our communities, and extend American compassion around the world. Interested volunteers can find information at www.usafreedomcorps.gov or by calling 1-877-USA-CORPS.
