President George W. Bush met Ashley Stieb upon arrival in Denver, Colorado, on Monday, October 11, 2004. Stieb, 15, is an active volunteer with Volunteer Outdoor Colorado’s (VOC) Youth Advisory Board.

President George W. Bush will meet Ashley Stieb when he arrives in Denver, Colorado, on Monday, October 11, 2004. Stieb, 15, is an active volunteer with Volunteer Outdoor Colorado’s (VOC) Youth Advisory Board.

President Bush has called on all Americans to volunteer two years or 4,000 hours over the course of their lifetimes, and hecreated USA Freedom Corpsto help foster a culture of service, citizenship, and responsibility. Since March 2002, President Bush has met with more than 300 individuals around the country, like Stieb, who are answering the call to volunteer service.

Stieb has been involved with VOC’s Youth Advisory Board since June 2002. This year, she organized two VOC youth projects -- building trails at Bluff Lake in Denver and Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Springs. She also participated in a trail building at the Plains Conservation Center in Aurora. As a crew leader, Stieb helps organize projects and recruits other youth volunteers. She also works as a project support coordinator and prepares meals for project volunteers.

Through USA Freedom Corps, President Bush wants to help every American answer the Call to Service by strengthening and expanding service opportunities to protect our homeland, support our communities, and extend American compassion around the world. Interested volunteers can find information at www.usafreedomcorps.gov or by calling 1-877-USA-CORPS.
