TEAMS TO PULL FIGHTER JET TO HELP CHARITIES FLY HIGH

DAYTON, Ohio
Sept. 23, 2003

Many people can say they donate money to charities, but how many can claim to have joined friends and coworkers in dragging a 60,000-pound fighter jet for the benefit of those charities?

This unique opportunity will be available when the United States Air Force Museum holds its Fifth Annual Combined Federal Campaign Aircraft Pull October 7 beginning at 10 a.m. at the north end of the Museum.

During the one-day event, 15-20 adults competing on all-male, all-female and coed teams will strive to pull an F-111E for the benefit of over 1,600 charities worldwide. The team that pulls the jet the farthest distance in 45 seconds will be declared the winner.

The entry fee is $200 per team, which will be donated to the CFC as "undesignated funds" through the U.S. Air Force Museum. These donations will not be included as part of the Museum's CFC goal.

Team members must be at least 18 years old and the co-ed team must have a 75 to 25 percent gender ratio. Participants must wear shoes with non-slick bottoms and will receive gloves for competition use, which must be returned at the completion of their team's pull.

After the event, officials will present awards, and water and fruit slices will be available for the participants. In addition, there will be hotdogs, chips and soda available for purchase.

Teams should arrive at least 20 minutes early on the day of the event in order to register and sign a waiver of responsibility. If the event is cancelled due to weather conditions, October 8 will serve as the make-up date.

For registration or additional information, call Sherry Howard at (937) 255-2597, ext. 724, or Renee Cardoza at (937) 255-8043, ext. 359.

The U.S. Air Force Museum is located on Springfield Pike, six miles northeast of downtown Dayton. It is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year' s Day). Admission and parking are free.
