U.S. CENTENNIAL OF FLIGHT COMMISSION NAMES FIRST OFFICIAL MEDIA PATRON

PRIMEDIA Will Join Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Wright Brothers' First Flight

In an effort to inform and educate people of all ages about the history and development of powered flight, the U.S. Centennial of Flight Commission has named PRIMEDIA (NYSE: PRM), a leading targeted media company, as an official media patron.

The U.S. Centennial of Flight Commission, which was created to expand national and international interest in the 100th anniversary of the Wright brothers' first flight, selected PRIMEDIA as a media patron because the company has the ability to reach a large number of people nationally, offers content/programming relevant to the Centennial celebration, and has a strong educational component.
"PRIMEDIA will help spread the Centennial message widely through an integrated program," Gen. J.R. "Jack" Dailey, Chairman of the Commission, said. "Our goal is to increase awareness of the Centennial celebration, and to educate as many people as possible. The Commission felt that PRIMEDIA offered us additional resources to do this more effectively and we are pleased to have them join the celebration."

PRIMEDIA will target national, international, educational and niche audiences through a number of Centennial-themed media programs, including Moments In Flight, a series of 90 second videos designed to educate viewers about aviation pioneers, events or technological milestones. Other PRIMEDIA initiatives include a flight-themed documentary for television, a commemorative print edition on the history of powered flight, Internet broadcasts of Moments in Flight and educational programs for schools.

"The results of PRIMEDIA's program and partnership with the Commission will yield lasting benefits to the Centennial celebration," Bruce Gamache, President of Primedia, said. "Our
extensive media outlets will allow a broad array of people to learn about the history of powered flight and how it impacts our lives today, both during the Centennial year and long after."

PRIMEDIA will be working closely with the Commission's existing partners, which include: American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA); Aviation Week's The Next Century of Flight; Aviation World's Fair 2003; EAA; First Flight Centennial Commission and First Flight Centennial Foundation of North Carolina; and Inventing Flight: Dayton 2003.

PRIMEDIA is the new tradition in media. It is a leading provider of targeted content and integrated marketing solutions in both the consumer and business-to-business sectors. The company is the #1 special-interest magazine publisher in the U.S., with more than 290 titles such as Seventeen, New York, Motor Trend, Fly Fisherman, American Baby, Telephony, and American Demographics; the #1 producer and distributor of specialty video with 18 satellite and digital video product lines, including Channel One Network; and the #1 news and information group on the Internet, with over 1,000 special-interest Web sites led by About.com.
