Members of the 55th SRW, a Strategic Air Command unit that conducted top secret reconnaissance missions during the Cold War, will reunite at the U.S. Air Force Museum Sept. 3-6. As part of their reunion, they will hold a compelling reconnaissance symposium on Sept. 5 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Museum's Carney Auditorium.

The 55th SRW flew thousands of dangerous "ferret" missions, many in the RB-47H. Flying in radio silence at night along-and sometimes over-the border of the Soviet Union and other communist nations, crews collected essential intelligence about the size and capability of Soviet air defense radar networks.

The symposium will cover an array of exciting, timely topics, including: "Myths about the U-2," "U-2 in Operation Iraqi Freedom," "Drones and UAVs," "Big Safari Program," and "RC-135s in Operation Iraqi Freedom," among others. They symposium is free and open to the public. No reservations or tickets are required.
