3 Roads Communications of Frederick, MD has just been awarded two Communicator Award Awards of Distinction for separate projects completed during 2003.

The first Award was received for an episode of 3 Roads' television series Legends of Airpower, which detailed the life and accomplishments of astronaut Jim Lovell. Lovell was memorably played by Tom Hanks in the film Apollo 13.

Legends of Airpower is seen on public television and on the Discovery Wings network.

The second award was received for a pilot DVD produced by 3 Roads for an upcoming documentary series with the working title of The Meaning of the 21st Century. That series, consisting of four one hour episodes, will relate how technology will impact the 21st century for good or for evil, and how civilizations needs to make choices now to help determine the outcome. The series is based on the book of the same name by visionary scientist Dr. James Martin.

The Communicator Award competition recognizes the best television productions from around the globe.

"We're delighted that both projects received this recognition," said Russ Hodge, President of 3 Roads. "Both projects were labors of love."

Hilary Burke of 3 Roads produced and edited Legends of Airpower: Jim Lovell, and James McGillin of 3 Roads was the director of photography and editor for The Meaning of the 21st Century.

3 Roads is an independent production company headquartered in Frederick's historic Glass Factory building.

3 Roads also has a Public Television Pledge Special in distribution, entitled Herb Cohen: Negotiating By Caring, But Not That Much.
