 Chapter 14 Joint Annuitant

A joint annuitant is an individual who is named in the annuity purchase with the TSP participant (the annuitant) and whose age and life expectancy are also used in the calculations to determine what the annuity payments should be. If you are married, your joint annuitant is usually your spouse. However, if you choose a joint annuitant other than your spouse, your spouse must provide notarized consent, and the joint annuitant must be either a former spouse or someone with an insurable interest in you.
