Enron

Since 2002, the SEC has sued a number of former Enron employees as well as others in connection with many alleged fraudulent practices. For more information about the SEC's actions, you can review the litigation releases listed on our Spotlight web page.

As of February 2007, the SEC's Enron-related settlement fund held approximately $440 million as a result of these actions. The money recovered by the SEC will be distributed to defrauded investors. The SEC's Enron investigation is continuing and additional funds may be recovered. At the appropriate time, the SEC will submit a distribution plan for approval with the Court overseeing the settlement fund.

On April 17, 2007, the Court appointed former SEC Chairman Richard C. Breeden as Distribution Agent to submit a proposed Distribution Plan to the SEC and to oversee the distribution of funds collected in this matter to eligible investors. The Distribution Agent has set up a website that allows Enron investors to email their questions and submit contact information so they can receive a claim form when it is available. Alternatively, Enron investors can mail a request for a claim form to the address appearing on the website.

As more information becomes available, we will update this web page.
