The following series of Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) images are a portion of the Missouri River Floodplain near Glasgow, Missouri. TM bands 7, 5, and 3 are displayed as red, green, and blue to approximate the natural colors of water, vegetation, and bare soil.
This demonstration illustrates how these data were used to study the geomorphological effects of the flood, and their implications for floodplain management issues such as levee placement, identification of risk zones, flood erosion and sedimentation, and levee erosion.
