How long will it take the Appeals Council to review my case?
  Question
How long will it take the Appeals Council to review my case?
  Answer

Currently, the average processing time for a request for review is about 7 months from the date the request is filed until the Appeals Council releases its final action.  Recently, the Council has been able to process about a third of its actions in 105 days although it is not unusual to find delays on requests for review of up to 30 months.  Any case pending more than 30 months will be considered for expedited processing.
