    Small Business Act bolsters small enterprises to take on global crisis

    The Competitiveness Council today gave strong support to the European Commission's initiative on small and medium-sized businesses. It adopted an action plan on the Small Business Act for Europe that seeks to shield and support SMEs in the current economic crisis. The Member States commit themselves to implementing a series of key principles and accompanying actions in areas such as improving access to finance, alleviating administrative burden and facilitating small businesses' access to markets.
