SafeTips
Forklifts

  • Read and understand the owner’s manual.
  • Wear the seatbelt.
  • Take your time—don’t speed.
  • Know how heavy your load is and the lifting capacity of your forklift. Don’t exceed the capacity.
  • Be aware of your surroundings and the path your are going to travel.
  • A forklift isn’t a scaffold or a taxi—don’t lift or transport people on the forks or on pallets on the forks. Use an approved work platform.
  • Sound the horn as you drive around a corner.
  • Don’t allow your load to prevent you from seeing ahead.
